Guest artist Buddy Rich joins the band on two numbers, adding some star power to the band, while Kenton was recuperating in the hospital.
Pianist and co-leader (with Ken Hanna) Nat Pierce was fired a month later for bringing in some of his own charts and encouraging the band to swing.
