Prologue

Stan Kenton may well be proud of "Prologue," another first in his brilliant presentation to the listening public of the feelings, emotions technicalities and personalities that are a part of modern music. Composed by Kenton and Johnny Richards, "Prologue" emerges a music of constantly changing moods and character with passages of sparkling excitement and moving themes. Over this music is the Kenton narration, a revelation of the character of the man himself expressing his democratic approach to music, and his keen understanding of the ingredients which go yo compose an orchestra. It makes one fully aware of the affection he has for creative music, and the underlying warm feelings for the orchestra as a unit, and from it,one detects the motivating forces which have elevated the Kenton organization to its enviable position of prominence.

After listening to "Prologue," one can easily understand why the Kenton orchestra is such a closely knit, co-operative group of artists. Each musician is introduced in this presentation, and each is given an opportunity to show his musical personality. It is a dramatic explanation of the inner workings of America’s greatest modern orchestra and deserves a prominent place in the record libraries of those whose thoughts are in tune with this era of which we are a part.
